I have a solo phone, i had this phone almost a year, and give them $200. deposite, but thier montly billing are too much for me and soem times cost me more than $70. I am looking for some thing cheaper or flat rate, that give me option to talk to my family whome are living in U.S as well. But, i want to keep my number since so many people has already my number. Is there any option for me to join you? Or should i applied from you seperately? where in the city of Toronto you do have office that I can find you? Thanks Mitra
Hey Mitra,
If you get a phone with Public Mobile, you get a flat rate and have unlimited Canadian Long distance this doesn’t include US long distance. But if you purchase the $5 CiCi calling card through the website you get 200 US minutes you can use on your mobile.
The advantage lies in the fact you have UNLIMITED local and Canadian long distance, meaning you could buy as many of these cards as you feel fit. Talk as much as you want and your only paying for the minutes of US long distance you use. You won’t have to pay excessive fee’s for the minutes used to call the local calling number on the back of the phone card that connects you to your destination in the US.
It is unfortunate that you are using the outdated antiquated CDMA technology for your network. This means anyone with an unlocked GSM compatible phone is unable to use their phone on your network. I feel sorry for you.
I Agree with Ben B, i have a cellphone with rogers right now (a blackberry) and I was looking to go with public mobile but when I saw CDMA, I was really dissapointed…
You can keep your previous landline or wireless phone number when you switch to Public Mobile from within the same local calling area.
Public Mobile is committed to making the transfer of your number as quick and easy as possible. For mobile phone numbers we try to transfer your phone number to Public Mobile within 3 hours.
Transferring your home or business phone number usually takes longer. We try to transfer these within 5 days.
The phone number you want to transfer must still be active with your current service provider. Once the transfer has been processed your old number and account will be deactivated.
To get your phone number transferred, visit a Public Mobile store and bring valid picture ID and the most recent bill you received from your current service provider. Make sure your name and address are showing on the bill. Your Public Mobile sales representative will start your new account that day and you will receive a text message on your Public Mobile phone when the transfer is complete.
