The $40 plan gets even better: International texting to 190 countries.

By david | Posted June 18th, 2010

Thanks again for all the blog comments about countries you would like to see included in our unlimited long distance calling feature. While we are working on adding more countries to our overseas long distance calling feature, we have some great news: we will soon be providing free unlimited international texting as part of our $40 unlimited talk and text plan. We’re delighted to be sharing it with all of you! With it, you’ll be able to send texts to 190 countries. The new feature will be effective as of July 15th. Are your fingers ready for more texting?

Can we have the list of countries?

  3. naveed says:

I’d wanna see the list of countries that aren’t included instead of going through 190 countries :)

Public Mobile your 40$ plan is awesome BUT there are 3 things stopping me from moving my number. #1 I’m still waiting for you guys in Mississauga. #2 I can’t roam therefore in case of an emergency I can’t make any calls. 3# For the same price I get almost the same thing minus the international text but I have unlimited mobile browser. I’ll see how things play out pending if I’m on a contract by the time you guys come.

Can you guys add some good range of handsets. Currently there are only handsets to choose from. Or is it possible to purchase my CDMA handset say Nokia & use it on my public mobile number?

    Cheers

  6. Alok says:

    I meant currently only 4 handsets to choose from within range of 70 $ – 180 $

  7. buckets says:

^^ you HAVE to buy one of their 4 phones. even if you buy another phone (ex. nokia) with the same freq, it WON’T work with public mobile’s network

when u wil have the coverage of brossard(south of montreal island)? I really want to have that 40$ plan before u launch, but ur website said the couverage will be ready at 2010, no exact date? what im going to do now? Wait till service be ready. I’ll lose the promotion; start now, I’ll have to pay several months for a no service cell phone?

Hey! I just wanted to say I am so glad that we are gong to have internation texting in 190 countries, in our $40 talk & text plan. I don’t understand how you are able to put so many great things in this plan xD I am glad you are able though. I can’t wait until June 25th, 2010! Then I’ll be able to start talking and texting :P If it wasn’t for you guys, I don’t think I would ever receive a cellphone from my parents :) Also, I am more excited for this than my birthday. I will be able to finally connect to the cellphone world with my friends. This plan has everything I need. I have to say whatever to the delay in the lauching date :D And whatever to the partial service in my area in Montreal XD Rogers, Bell, Telus, Fido and other phone companies had started off badly, then grew into a great phone company with good service (Except for their bad prices). I keep on saying to myself to stay positive. 4

    Continuation of “4″.

    Hi Sir,

Yes of course unlimited calling to Pakistan can make the real difference to any of the cell phone industry. If you introduce this service you would be having hundreds of new customer just over night.

  18. Ahmed says:

I agree with Malik Arif. Pakistan if included … I know tons of ppl who including me would immediately switch as we are tired of the poor quality service MOBILICITY is offering.

  19. Jay says:

I am so delighted to see St. Lucia on your list along with the other Caribbean nations mentioned. My home country is usually overlooked in things like this so I am happy to tell you that I, along with the rest of my family will switch to Public Mobile. Well done.

  20. Linden says:

this is a great offer, mobilicity and wind definetly can’t compare with this now, i just hope that your company gets better devices that have a better qwerty keyboard, the one on the G2Go is terrible, you guys need to get contracts from Nokia,Motorola,Blackberry or some other company that can offer better hardware.

  21. schui says:

Where is the list, what I see is list of 190 countries, but where is info about the countries included in unlimited plan.

  22. SOCCER7 says:

if public mobile had blackberys at better prices than they would be the best but so far id rather go to rogers just so i can get a good phone lik an iphone or blackberry for cheap..i no that theres a contract but having a blackberry is better then have a bad phone nd no contract :S

  23. ahsan says:

You need to extend that promo to get the CDN LD till September so international students that come from overseas and abroad can sign up for it!

  27. jimmy says:

I’m happy to be part of your company now and I would request all the people to support this revolutionary company by switching and helping it to grow. This can be a successful company if we help them by being part of it and not by just asking for more and more….don’t forget it is a new company and requires a lot of effort and $$$……
I’m waiting for the new international plan and hopefully pakistan is included this time :D
    Go public mobile!!!

  28. Arun says:

If I take this phone to Cuba / other listed countries, can I use it there with same fee?

You guys are amazing, Rogers was ripped off people with very less features (100 free minutes were amazing detail with Rogers )

  29. Luke says:

This is very good news! I am very unhappy though that on the $24 plan you can’t even have the option to pay per use for text (CAN’T TEXT AT ALL), as I that plan works for me, but not even the option to pay .15 cents per text and free to receive does not work for me and others needs to GIVE YOU MONEY, it’s not like you can’t do it, you simply won’t right now. :(
Please change this and word will spread.

  30. riky says:

why is Jamaica not included in the 190 countries? i know your business would grow excessively if if u had a plan that includes JAMAICA.

  31. Sidd says:

ADD PAKISTAN PLEASE… YOU`LL GET ALOT CUSTOMER TO GET YOUR SERVICE…

  32. ken says:

I have an iPhone, can I use the phone with your 40$ plan? That would be so awesome. Thanks.

  33. maaz says:

Get more coverage please and asap. I will be in the line and will toss my city fido plan. I need to get out of anything related to Rogers..the ultimate evil.

  34. maaz says:

ya man..forgot to say.. Add Pakistan and see atleast a million subscribers at once.. ;)

  35. naveed says:

Agree. I’m with Mobilicity but will not wait a minute to join Public Mobile if you’ll offer Unlimited Pakistan package. When are you launching in Toronto (Brampton) though?

  36. samad says:

I see unlimited texting for Pakistan, is unlimited calling included. I am on FIDO and would switch immediately if that were the case.

  37. Evon says:

I would be great if you had international calling and texting to Jamaica. Please consider it

  38. niran says:

  48. S.R. says:

    What’s the domain/gateway to send texts/e-mail to a Public Mobile phone? 1234567890@publicmobile.ca?

  49. Public Mobile says:

Sorry S.R. We do not support text to/from e-mail.

  50. john says:

Based on a June 2010 post, I noticed that Public Mobile did not have domain/gateway to send texts/e-mail to a Public Mobile phone (e.g. 1234567890@publicmobile.ca).

Being the only carrier in Toronto that did not offer this service at that time, is there now a domain/gateway set up to perform this function.
