If life is taking you on the road, Public Mobile has good news for you: Our network is now larger. We have expanded our network and have added roaming, making it possible for you to talk and text while you’re traveling outside of our unlimited coverage area.
Our roaming works on a pay-per-use basis, so you will only be charged when you use the service. All you have to do is add money to your Public Mobile Wallet before leaving town and you’ll be able to complete local or long distance calls to anywhere in Canada and the U.S., as well as send and receive text messages.
Public Mobile’s roaming charges are 15¢/minute, the lowest price in Canada, and will allow you to call any destination in Canada or the United States. For incoming calls, the same roaming charges of 15¢/minute apply, and allow you to accept calls from Canada, the United States or international destinations. If you have text messaging, you will be able to receive unlimited free text messages while roaming and will only be charged 15¢ for any messages you send.
Our roaming coverage area includes major cities in both Ontario and Quebec, as well as in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C. We’ll be updating maps in our stores and online before we launch.

The Chinese New Year begins February 3rd and Public Mobile would like to wish all a prosperous New Year. Tradition holds that this year is set to be calmer, especially following the high momentum of the previous year of the Tiger. We’re happy to announce that our unlimited talk and text service is now available in Hamilton and Oakville. We are continuing to expand our network coverage areas since launching service in Toronto and Montreal last summer. Network coverage will be available in Burlington in the near future.
In Hamilton
Our coverage in Hamilton extends up to Burlington Bay in the north and west as far as the Chedoke Expressway. Coverage to the East extends to Fifty road in Stoney Creek. Coverage to the south extends as far as the Lincoln Alexander Parkway.

You might have seen Lakshmi in one of our ads and we thought you would like get to know her better. Lakshmi is a mortgage agent, mother, wife, cook, a killer card player and an all around great person. When we first met her back in June, we were searching for real people for our ad campaign. We immediately liked her and chose her because she has such a wonderful smile.
Lakshmi was born in Bangalore, India, and now resides in Toronto. She calls home to India as often as she likes to talk to friends and family, so it’s important for her to have a good long distance plan. She calls her mom the most though, to keep her updated on what’s happening here in Canada but also because she thinks that there is no greater comfort than talking to your mother. Lakshmi is a mortgage specialist and has to make a lot of phone calls every day. She believes in the “old style” of communicating – phone vs. email – because there is less of a communications gap and she feels like she’s able to provide more personal service with a phone call rather than an email. So, she finds our unlimited talk plans quite handy.
If you don’t catch Lakshmi in one of our ads, look for her at the Little India Bazaar on Gerrard Street in Toronto – she’ll be there shopping for the best saris in town. Tell her we say hi.

Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year from all of us at Public Mobile.
As we near the end of 2010, we can’t help but reflect back on the year we’ve had and the achievements that were made. The people that have been hired and the team we built; receiving our license from the government; launching our network in Toronto and Montreal; and building stores and teaming up with all our retail partners. But most of all, we want to thank all the Canadians who chose Public Mobile and helped us improve by providing feedback and support. As fondly as we look back at 2010 and all that it held, we’re looking forward to an exciting 2011.
Just a quick reminder that we’ll be taking some time off to get into the holiday spirit with our family and friends but look forward to talking to you again in January.

Our Find the $10,000 Public Mobile Phone contest has ended and the two lucky winners will be having a very Merry Christmas indeed.
In Montreal, listeners of NRJ 94.3FM searched the city daily to find the hidden phones until the phone winners met last Friday for the finale, at our store on Wellington Street in Verdun. They were told to bring their new Public Mobile phones because the winner would receive a call from our head office informing them that they won. Sébastien David couldn’t contain his excitement when his phone rang, making him the recipient of the $10,000 cash prize. The world is now his oyster, as Sébastien will be using the money to do a bit of traveling. In Toronto, our finalists, who had diligently listened to BOOM 97.3FM for clues, gathered last Saturday at our store on Danforth Ave. and Denisa Kroscenova was the fortunate one to win the $10,000 cash prize. She plans on using the money to buy something that many Canadians wish for in the winter – a new car.
Congrats to both Sébastien and Denisa and we hope that all of our 19 finalists enjoy their new Kyocera G2GO phones and their three months of unlimited talk and text service!

We want to highlight a special customer this week, one who has made our Friendship Pays Program pay off for him. Construction is continuing in both Toronto and Montreal and the areas surrounding both these cities.
This past week in Toronto there was lots of construction of new sites which will become operational over the coming months.
In Montreal, we are happy to let you know that coverage in both Laval and Pointe Claire has expanded. We’ve posted a new map at http://www.publicmobile.ca/pmconsumer/coverage that shows the new areas. Montreal also had a number of sites become operational this past week;
- Located near the intersection of Rue Pullman and Blvd de Ste-Anne-de Bellevue this site expands coverage to Montreal West.
- Located near the intersection of Rue Hodge and Rue Petit this site expands coverage to Mont Royal
- Located near Blvd Le Carrefour and Blvd Daniel Johnson this site will strengthen coverage in the surrounding commercial (including Carrefour Laval) and residential areas.
- Located near the intersection of Rue Meloche and Ave du Chateau Pierrefonds this site improves coverage surrounding area.

This past week we were able to strengthen coverage with sites in the western edge of Toronto. In the Montreal area we were able to complete sites in different parts of Montreal: one each in Brossard, Laval, Pointe Claire and Montreal.
Toronto
- The site will provide coverage for the commercial and residential areas surrounding Dundas St. W. and Royal York Road.
- The site will provide coverage for the commercial and residential areas surrounding Eglinton Ave. and Kipling Ave.
Montreal
- Located in Brossard, this site will improve coverage in the residential areas surrounding Blvd. Rome and Hwy 10, as well as provide improved coverage across the Champlain Bridge and in the commercial area surrounding Route 134 and Blvd. Rome.
- Located in Laval, this site will improve coverage in the commercial and residential areas surrounding Blvd. Cartier and Ave. du Pacifique.
- Located in Pointe-Claire, this site will improve coverage in the residential areas surrounding Hwy 20 and Ave. Lakeside as well as improving coverage along Hwy 20.
- Located in Montreal, this site will improve coverage in the residential and commercial areas surrounding Rue Sherbrooke West and Ave. Claremont as well as improving coverage along Hwy 720 and Hwy 15 in the area.
